'Samsung' provided Spot Billing solution to 'JVVNL'

Jaipur : Samsung, India’s most trusted consumer electronics brand, jointly with Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam (Jaipur Discom) announced the successful completion of the pilot of Bijli Mitra application. Samsung and BCITS provided Spot Billing solution to 'JVVNL', wherein the department’s feet-on-street staff are now able to complete the entire billing process, right at the consumer’s doorstop – from bill generation to bill printing and finally, payment.

With introduction of Bijli Mitra application, the consumers will get all the electricity bill related information with just one click. They can also pay their electricity bills through the app. The option of escalating complaints regarding interruption of power supply and electricity theft are also available on the app. Clicking on the services option, the consumer can request for new connections, disconnection, re-connection, application status, loading and name changes.

'JVVN' is engaged in distribution and supply of electricity in 12 districts of Rajasthan. BCITS has been awarded tender for spot billing for Jaipur discom. It has deployed spot billing platform for 'JVVNL' which will use Samsung smartphones for data synchronization from BLE devices and print spot bills on portable BT printer. Earlier, manual billing was in use, which resulted in data mishandling, data errors, and unnecessary data collection issues. It took more than 30-45 days from meter reading to bill delivery to consumer.

BCITS and Samsung provided portable spot billing machines which could generate and print bills at consumer’s door step, when connected to GPRS equipped smartphones. The device software houses dashboards, customer profiling and an exhaustive MIS report generation system.

The platform can read the data from various meter makes and transfers the data to smartphone based billing platform. It supports Photo Billing along with GPS coordinates, thereby ensuring an end-to-end portfolio. Samsung’s R&D team worked with BCITS tech team in identifying the challenges and provided innovative tech solutions for a seamless billing process.

Bijli Mitra subscribers have the option to connect all electrical connections with his or her own account. This will provide the consumer with information on all the connections in one place. This app will also provide consumers with energy saving tips, in which a lot of useful information about power saving measures will be available with just one single click.  

The solution facilitated error free, transparent, accurate and reliable spot billing, which further resulted in enhanced revenue and also ensured optimum customer satisfaction. Also the Meter reading to cash process was reduced from 45 days to 15 days, thereby improving cash flows.
